When we say every project tells a story, we mean it; and the Las Vegas Ranch build was one we won’t soon forget. Located on a stunning 40+ acre parcel at the center of Prescott’s high desert ranch country, this home took shape on top of a natural knoll overlooking miles of untouched terrain. From heavy site work to refined finishes, it was a project that pushed our team’s creativity and craftsmanship in all the right ways.
This custom home build represented much more than just building a house. It was a full-on transformation of raw land into a high-performance living space, with room to breathe, room to grow, and room to retreat.
Carving a Home Into the Land
Before we could pour concrete or raise a wall, we had to get to the site. That meant cutting in a long driveway, clearing access roads, trenching for utilities, drilling wells, and installing septic systems; all on rugged, undeveloped land. The home site itself sat atop a small knoll, so we had to cut and grade a stable building pad while preserving the natural terrain that made the parcel so special.
Once the pad was prepped, we could get to the good part: bringing the homeowners’ vision to life. The design called for thoughtful placement to maximize views, energy performance, and privacy: Exactly the kind of challenge we enjoy most.
Features That Set It Apart
While every custom home has its own fingerprint, this one came with a few standout features that made it a unique and rewarding build:
- Underground wine cellar: Yes, truly underground—this wasn’t a closet with racks. We built a full subterranean wine room, insulated and conditioned to protect the collection in style.
- Site infrastructure: Water, sewer, and power had to be built from the ground up. That meant drilling, trenching, and full utility development before we even broke ground on the home.
- Hilltop views: By cutting into the top of the knoll, we framed the entire house around sweeping high-desert views and winter light.
- Custom finishes: The level of detail and finish in this home elevated it from “ranch house” to “ranch retreat.”
This project was originally going to include a guest house and a barn, and we were fully prepared to take it all on. But as things sometimes go, the owners decided to sell the home and relocate out of state shortly after completion. Even so, what we built stands as a perfect example of how function, design, and the landscape can come together in harmony.
High-Performance in Every Detail
Like all of our projects, this home was built with energy performance and durability top of mind. That includes spray foam insulation, efficient HVAC systems, and a tight building envelope for year-round comfort and indoor air quality. Even in a remote location, we maintain our commitment to high-performance building because we know it pays off for our clients, whether they’re staying long-term or listing their property down the line.
We keep our proposals transparent and detailed, and we’re proud to involve clients throughout every phase of the build. It’s what allows us to deliver homes that meet not only structural standards, but lifestyle goals as well.
